Welcome to Social Capital Academy

The Social Capital Academy (SCA) is a new game-changing program designed to connect junior-year college students with a team of mentors and successful business professionals who give their time to help each participating student reimagine and prepare for the working world ahead.

Many of our students are from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds, often holding down jobs at the same time they are pursuing their degrees. Our professionals understand this and work alongside students’ busy schedules and competing demands. They offer valuable guidance and direction that may not otherwise be available to students through traditional academic channels.

The Social Capital Academy teaches students how to 1) relate their personal story to potential employers, 2) meet successful professionals in fields of interest who help clarify and expand their next career steps, 3) create a professional network, and 4) develop an action plan to advance toward a meaningful career while still in college.

The program consists of four specific modules, with strategic engagement between modules among the students and the SCA team of mentors and career professionals.

Testimonials

The Social Capital Academy is an immediately productive response to what has been missing in American higher education. I highly support its inventive and results-oriented approach.

I love being an SCA mentor. The diverse student body – where they come from and their life experiences – inspires me and reveals their true resilience. Through this work, we are helping launch SCA students into meaningful jobs at the outset of their careers.

The SCA program was a real difference-maker for me. How I communicate my value and tell my story to potential employers now is so much better than before I joined the program. The skills you learn here will help you for the rest of your life. The mentors were just mindblowingly cool.
